Foodbuy Helps Camp Realize Savings on Purchases, while maintaining food quality, and convenience

The Challenge:

A small, overnight, not-for-profit summer camp engaged with Foodbuy for the first time, to prepare for the upcoming camp season.

This small summer camp, which welcomes approximately 60-100 campers per week, and spends approximately $56,000 with GFS on food, was feeling the pinch from rising food and operating costs.

As a Canadian Camping Association (CCA) member this camp became aware of the Foodbuy program through the CCA. It was the appeal of earning rebates on purchases for their camp, and the fact that Foodbuy supports the CCA and provincial camping associations, that drew them to Foodbuy.

The Solution:

What Happened Next:

  • Spend Summary shared with Foodbuy: The camp provided the food ordering summary for their last summer’s food purchases to Foodbuy.
  • Evaluate spend against Foodbuy contracts: Foodbuy evaluated the camp’s purchases against Foodbuy’s contracted pricing programs. The evaluation and recommendations were presented. The total savings and rebates available were outlined if the camp were to make some adjustments to their current purchasing patterns.
  • Implementation meeting: The Camp and Foodbuy representatives meet to review the opportunities and discuss the optimization and conversion support Foodbuy would provide.

The Results:

$1,100 in savings and rebates available without adjusting suppliers and spending patterns.

An additional $1,000+ in savings and rebates were available to the camp by switching like-for-like products and suppliers.

The camp joined the Foodbuy program for the 2025 camp season, anticipating a minimum $2,200 in savings on their food purchases through GFS, while continuing to offer the same food quality to their campers.
